COME ALIVE 2025 - You Were Made For More!
DAY 80: PREPARING FOR TOMORROW… Here, There, and Everywhere.
I’ve been told that getting a good night’s sleep and waking up refreshed is essential when tackling a large project. However, that’s incredibly difficult for me. I hardly ever enjoy a good night’s sleep anymore—maybe 5 hours at most on a good night. I have my five favorite pillows that I cocoon around me, yet it’s just so hard to get comfortable. I toss and turn frequently. I usually wake up around 3 am; that’s when I do my best writing. If I’m not awake by 5 am, something is definitely wrong.
That’s become my new normal, not by choice. That was the reality of my life, so I had to accept it. To be thankful, you must appreciate what you have. When you’re grateful, you complain much less. You find ways to compromise and make the best of what you have.
Instead of focusing on others who have more than you and feeling envious of what they possess, you should look at those who have less, recognizing that there are many more of them, which humbles you.
But there are still those who just love to gossip, gossip, gossip. What is gossip? You’ll be surprised by how it’s defined in the dictionary (listed below).
What does the Bible say about gossip? The Bible generally describes gossip as a negative act—spreading harmful information behind someone's back, whispering or murmuring about someone, or seeking to stir up trouble and damage a person's reputation. Gossip is rarely trusted due to the hurtful information it spreads.
Most people listen to gossip, sometimes without realizing it. Many engage in it, but no one likes to be the subject of gossip. The information spread is not always true, and gossip can harm individuals, families, careers, and relationships.
Why is it that people always like to focus on the negative… from Newspaper Headlines to TV Emergency Broadcasts, sadly, tragedy sells.
Tomorrow’s Headlines will feature a new section called Gossip for Good Girls by Bessie Blabberpuss. I aim to offer Christians something positive to discuss. LADIES, LET’S SPREAD SOME LOVE INSTEAD OF HATE. Let’s come together to make a difference for missions that so desperately need help.
I’ll share what I’ve been doing and what is needed for places I know of, and you can send other similar worthy causes to be listed as well. I believe in GRACE, GRACE, GOD’s GRACE. If the Lord puts it on your heart to support a mission with $5, surely He knows what it can grow into.
I hear about children all the time who desperately try to raise money to start new missions in their own communities because their hearts have been moved. That cannot be from man; the world did not teach them that compassion. That level of selflessness must be from God. So let’s invest in that. Let’s see where these kids can go! Amen!
Say something kind to a child today. Inspire them to greatness. Then, put up your gold star. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. Investing in the future can be as simple as showing support physically, emotionally, or financially and lending an ear.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as: "gossip (noun) a person who habitually reveals personal or sensational facts about others; rumor or report of an intimate nature; or a chatty talk.
Did you know? Merriam-Webster here, your one and only source for the juicy history of the English lexicon (including gossip, girl). It’s no secret that gossiping often involves discussing the intimate details of other people’s lives, but did you know that the origins of gossip are a bit more chummy, and even a tad divine?
Word on the street is that the Old English word sibb, meaning “relative” or “kinsman,” long ago combined with the word god (meaning, well, “god”) to form godsibb, which referred to a person who was spiritually related to another, specifically by being a baptismal sponsor. Today we call such a person a godparent. Over the centuries, godsibb changed both in form and in meaning. In Middle English, gossib came to be used for a close friend or chum as well as for a godparent. From there, it was only a short step to gossip, a word for anyone, not just a friend, relative, or sponsor, known for spilling the tea.
By the early 17th century, gossip had expanded into the verb use that has been the talk of the town ever since.”"
Who knew? Be Blessed!
